We're

It is open enough for any of us to participate at these events, including Irish people living abroad but with approval.
Don't want to stop people like Gordon to represent Ireland but I have issues with non nationals sailors who are not good enough to qualify for these events under their own national authorities but who want to compete and suddenly remember they have a distant great grand mother who was Irish and feel they have to right to sail under IRL...

Sorry I'm having an issue attaching the file... please bare with me on this till I find a solution

My suggestipon is that we announce promptly (before the 11th) that any IOM owner that meets the membership criteria (I am assuming a class registered boat owner) should apply to RSAI for entry to the event under IRL;

Suggested time limit 1 November.

I would suggest having a discussion on the 11th to establish clear criteria for selection. From experience entry to Worlds or Continental championships is one of the most contentious issues in radio sailing..

I would argue that the criteria should include:

- previous exeperience at international events,

- participation in events (any class) in Ireland as a competitor or organiser.

I firmly believe that as national raduio sailing organisation we should keep in mind the development of Irish radio sailing when selecting our representatives. For instance I would prefer to favour a sailor who has already demonstrated in Ireland that they are willing to organise events here. Attending a Worlds would provide an opportunity to learn a great deal about the organisation of such a big event, and establish invaluable contacts.

I also agree that local sailors should have first choice at attending international events. I represented Ireland at the last IOM worlds in Australia. Also currently representing at the Oceania IOM contextual in Christchurch NZ. I was selected by the NCA because I live in Australia and no one else wanted to go. I am Irish born and lived in Ireland for 30 years. I am a proud Irishman however because I live in Australia and sail there, I can sail for both countries. In opinion, if any resident Irish wants a place at an international event then they should have priority. The overseas Irish should be second pick, if there are spaces left.

just my humble opinion
